History of Our Church

Our first building at the corner of Belleville Avenue and Main Street was erected in 1803, and then we relocated to 225 Washington Avenue at the corner of Washington Avenue and Academy Street in the year 1900 A.D.  This historical church landmark is shared by a small congregation of diverse cultures as we earnestly carry out God’s commission and command to “make disciples” and to love in word and deed. For years, we have fed the poor and catered to many groups who give life and hope. Wesley  UMC is a living reminder of a place for healing and new beginnings, to those who struggle with life’s challenges. We aid with the help of the Holy Spirit in the spiritual wellness and social upliftment of God’s people in this community and beyond.

For more than 230 years, we have been serving , Belleville and neighboring towns. We are a vibrant community of believers, dedicated to sharing the Good News of God's abiding Presence and unconditional Love for all creation.

We are committed and energetic church carrying out other mission of Christ by witnessing through Worship, Fellowship,Bible Study and Missional Outreach.

To be part of this local church is to be part of a nurturing community of faith.

The United Methodist Church's slogan is "Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors", and the Wesley United Methodist Church community warmly invites all to join us as a we continue on our journey of faith ,goodwill and service.

We open our doors, minds and hearts to "Iddpmi Gosén Church" who weekly shares with us the sanctuary space, we partner with serval 12 steps Groups, and

we assist with many volunteers in feeding program. We also provide a safe haven safe harbor and "Safe Sanctuary" for immigrants and the many "strangers" who will eventually become family.
